Shine the Light Exhibition

Curated by Deborah Haber, Shine the Light is an interdisciplinary-art touring exhibition which explores the current and historical aspects of refugee displacement and the displaced refugees’ quest of finding home through the eyes of internationally renowned artists.

Featured Artists include:

  • Rahim AlHaj: world renowned oud composer/musician; National Endowment for the Arts 2015 Heritage Arts recipient; Iraqi refugee who escaped Saddam Hussein’s regime; his music chronicles his journey to America and citizenship
  • Laura Donefer: an international glass artist whose Todesmarche Revisited, a 15-foot glass installation, honors those who perished or were displaced during the Holocaust
  • Deborah Haber & Casey Filiaci: writer and composer of Moses Man: Finding Home the true story of a Holocaust survivor and his nine-year journey to home and freedom
  • Dave Marshall: a multiple Emmy-award winning documentary film director currently in production for Finding Home, a feature-length documentary film
  • Charlotte Schmitz: an international photographer who has created Take Me To Jermany, a powerful photographic installation of Syrian refugees “ in their own words”
